JAMAICA
EVANGELISTIC EXPLOSION 2002
MISSION TRIP REPORT
BY Coreen Jackson, Ph.D.
The
Trinity Evangelistic Ministry coordinated twenty missionaries
from six states to participate in its annual mission trip
to Jamaica. We were invited by the Frankfield Baptist Circuit
of Churches, which has five churches in different location
in Clarendon, Jamaica. The Rev. C. A. Jennings is the sole
pastor for all five churches. The group was divided into five
teams each consisting of an evangelist, a musician, and two
support/decision counselors. Each group was assigned to a
church for the 10 days. We were responsible for the ministry,
music and preaching for the entire time.
I
was assigned to my home church Frankfield Baptist as the evangelist.
I was not expecting such an assignment knowing that I grew
up in that church. But God had a plan and carried me full
circle to my own people with a divine Word from Him. Everyone
was very warm and receptive. I was reminded of the scripture
that says a prophet is not accepted in his own town. But God
was merciful and granted me favor and grace. Each night was
a powerful demonstration of God's Word and the Lord brought
60 people to repentance and re-dedication.

I
was invited to Edwin Allen Comprehensive High School, my former
high school, to address the entire school at the morning devotion.
The Spirit of the Lord moved powerfully and over 1,000 students
accepted Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. The Principal
asked me to return the next day to conduct the devotions for
the girls. I addressed the issue of Sexual Purity, Personal
significance and Keeping yourself pure until marriage. I introduced
the True Love Waits concept to the young ladies and about
800 made commitments to remain pure until marriage. They were
thirsty for truth, the relevancy of God's word to their lives
and the benefits of sexual purity. At the end of the devotional
period many of the girls flocked to me to ask questions, get
their pictures taken and to exchange addresses.
Every
day we were involved with some aspect of ministry. I conducted
two marriage- counseling sessions, visited the sick, taught
a class in the primary school, and spoke in a small basic
school. One of the ladies in my team did clowning for Christ
and she made balloons into a variety of objects in order to
creatively present the Gospel. It was an awesome experience
for all of us. The children and teachers were most appreciative.
The other team members also went to schools to conduct morning
devotions and to participate in other school activities. We
had a street meeting in the Frankfield Town Square sharing
music and message. The people were drawn to the street witness.
We also showed the Jesus Film in a few of the churches. Many
accepted Christ at the end of the showings.
The last night all five churches came together to have Rally
Night. One preacher was selected to deliver the final message
to bring the crusade to a close. Surprisingly, I was chosen.
The Lord was faithful. He gave a powerful word out of 1 Timothy
6:19 about fighting for your faith. The people responded to
the invitation. The climax of the trip occurred when my own
older brother walked down the aisle to accept Jesus Christ.
He ran to my arms with tears streaming down his face. I hugged
him and together we sobbed. I forgot the microphone was still
in my hand, I had lost all composure as tears of rejoicing
and cries of gratitude echoed from my heart through the jammed
packed congregation to heaven. I had the privilege of seeing
over 1,060 come to Christ from the assignment that week. How
wonderful is our Savior's love. How awesome is Our Lord!
The
following are the results from all the churches and schools
to which we were assigned.
